Daily practice

Hello Friends!
I recently came across the quote above and was reminded, again, of the power of my daily yoga practice. Every time I roll out my mat I am showing up for myself. Each movement and breath gives me information about myself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The words I say to myself on my mat, the ways I push or ease or offer gentleness to myself in my practice are teaching me how to do those things in the rest of my life. When we talk about yoga as a practice, it is often viewed as only a practice of the physical asanas. In reality, yoga is the practice of showing up for ourselves over and over, honoring who we are in this moment, honoring our bodies as they are in this moment, giving ourselves permission to be as we are, and offering ourselves compassion when that is difficult.
Your daily practice won’t look like mine and it shouldn’t. It should look like what you need. It can be taking deep breaths before you move into your day, doing a few sun salutations or other asana, sitting in meditation, engaging in mindfulness practices, rolling out your neck and shoulders, or engaging in a full yoga session by yourself or led by another. I encourage you to explore what daily practices bring you balance each day, trust your inner knowing, and offer yourself the opportunity to learn from and nurture yourself. We are coming up to a New Moon in Libra on Tuesday, bringing harmonizing energy and the opportunity to explore where we are out of balance and what we can do to bring ourselves back into balance. Meditating during new and full moons is a tool that can help us listen to our inner wisdom and discern what next steps we need to take.
