Satya

The Yama we are focusing on this week is Satya, translated as truthfulness. Truthfulness involves honoring our own inner wisdom, being willing to expand our perspective and understanding, and being honest in our words and deeds. Just because something is true, however, does not mean it needs to be stated. Many years ago I read an article around the concept of right speech that offered the following questions to ask ourselves prior to speaking or writing: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? I have found that pausing to ask myself these questions allows me to decrease lashing out in anger and to increase my ability to respond with compassion even in difficult situations. Engaging in Satya is a life long practice in which we may often fail, yet it is worthwhile to continue to notice when we have faltered and begin the practice again with gentleness and kindness for ourselves.

Tomorrow, 8/8, is the Lion’s Gate Portal which astrologically is believed to be an opportunity to open ourselves to high frequency energy connecting us to both our own spirits and the healing energy of mother earth. The number 88 represent abundance and prosperity, so it is a good day to tune in to inspiration, new ideas, and new understandings. Additionally, this Saturday is a Full Moon in Aquarius full of healing goddess energy to support us on our path.

Please join me this weekend for Saturday Morning Yoga at 8:30 AM MT as we pause, listen to our bodies, and care for ourselves with lovingkindness as well as for a Full Moon Sound Bath at 3:00 PM MT at Harmonist Sanctuary (either in person or virtually) as we offer ourselves time and space to rest our bodies and spirits.
