The Short Course in Mindful Self-Compassion

Learn to use the skills of mindfulness to develop the inner resource of self-compassion and enhance your capacity for emotional wellbeing. Led by Lisa Vratny-Smith, MSW.

The Short Course in Mindful Self-Compassion (SC-MSC) is a 9 hour* adaptation of the empirically-supported 8-week Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) program developed by Kristin Neff, PhD, the pioneering researcher in the field of self compassion and Christopher Germer, PhD, a leader in the integration of mindfulness, compassion and psychotherapy. “Self-Compassion promotes emotional resilience, reduces anxiety and depression, and helps individuals recover from stress and burnout by fostering a more balanced and supportive relationship with themselves.” (centerformsc.org)

In the course we will explore the research supporting the benefits of self-compassion and barriers that often prevent us from being kinder to ourselves. Through practices, exercises, and discussion we will nurture and strengthen our inner self-compassionate voices and learn to quiet and redirect our harsh inner critics.
